Betty White sets Guinness Book of World Records with the Longest TV Career
Betty White’s career can now be described as “one for the record books” as Guinness is honoring the actress by recognizing her career as the Longest TV Career for an Entertainer (Female).
Guinness notes that her career has spanned 74 years, beginning in 1939 including famous roles on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Golden Girls, The Carol Burnett Show and now, Hot in Cleveland.
“I was astounded when they called to tell me. ‘Who? Me!?!’ It’s such an honor,” White said in a brief interview.
White admits that the record book has always “astounded” her and now she’s a part of it.
“The book has always been fascinating to me. I can’t believe I’m now associated with it. I am amazed at some of the records they keep. The longest fingernails?!?”
She is an avid animal lover and her personal lists of favorites reflects that.
“I had many favorites. The ‘Pet Set’ and ‘Golden Girls’ just to name a few. Especially the former, as I wrote and produced it and could have on any animals I wanted.”
