Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch gave a big hint for fans of the Marvel Studios’ film, with remarks that sounds like a role in Infinity War will happen.
In the
next issue of British movie magazine Empire, to be released this week,
Cumberbatch drops a hint that there’s no rest for a Sorcerer Supreme when all of existence is threatened, it seems.
“To get us all together will be quite something,” he tells Empire. “That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter. So watch this space to see how that unfolds.”
Strange sounds like he’ll be joining Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and the cast of Avengers to deal with the threat of the alien Thanos.
Doctor Strange will be released Nov. 4.
Joining Cumberbatch will be Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo with Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius serving as the film’s main adversary, setting up Mordo’s turn to the dark side and future conflict like Thor vs. Loki in the Thor franchise. Also starring will be Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Tilda Swinton, Scott Adkins, Michael Stuhlbarg and Amy Landecker.
Stick around for the post-credit sequence to see if he gets an Avengers invite before the end of his own movie.
Avengers: Infinity War arrives n 2018.
