Ben Kingsley talks Mandain, 10 rings and magic in ‘Iron Man 3’
In issue 205 of Total Film magazine, award winning actor Ben Kingsley, speaks on his Iron Man 3 role, The Mandarin.
Kingsley wasn’t even aware of the Fu Manchu wearing character from Marvel Comics, saying “I didn’t have any template to copy.”
“I’m undereducated as far as Marvel comics are concerned, and that can be a good thing, like coming to a Shakespeare play fresh rather than having done it 20 times.”
Fans may also need to know that the Mandarin’s 10 rings and dark magic don’t appear to the be the theme of the film.
“He released demonic layers in me!”, admitted Kingsley.
