Bea Rose Santiago crowned Miss International 2013, the Philippines third international beauty contest winner this year
Masbate-born, Binibining Pilipinas-International 2013, Bea Rose Santiago has become the third Filipina to win a international beauty contest this year after being crowned Miss International 2013 at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Hall, Tokyo, Japan Tuesday.
The 5’9″ beauty who modeled in Canada, follows two other winners this year in Megan Young, who took the top spot at Miss World 2013 in late September and in early September, 21-year-old Isabela beauty and Bb. Pilpinas-Supranational, Mutya Johanna Datul who captured the crown for Miss Supranational 2013 in Belarus.
Miss Netherlands Nathalie den Dekker was the runner-up while Miss New Zealand Casey Radley came in third place.
Rounding out the Top 5 were Colombia and Hungary.
Bea dedicated her victory to her native land saying, “This is for the Philippines, I love you Philippines.”
This is the fifth time that the Philippines won the Miss International crown. Gemma Cruz was the winner in 1964 followed by Aurora Pijuan in 1970, Melanie Marquez in 1979, and Precious Lara Quigaman in 2005.
