‘Batman vs Superman’ adds Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto
Warner Bros has added Holly Hunter, 300: Rise Of An Empire star Callan Mulvey, and The Wolverine‘s Tao Okamoto to join Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel.
Deadline reports in an Apr. 3 article the casting news and that the trio will “will play new characters” but there is no real details.
Hunter has never been part of a big budget blockbuster. Mulvey was most recently in 300: Rise of an Empire and Okamoto was in The Wolverine.
“Holly has always been one of my favorite actresses,” Snyder said in a statement. “She has immense talent and is always captivating on screen. I had an opportunity to meet her a while back and knew instantly that I had to work with her, so as we began writing the script I made sure to create a role specifically for her.”
“I just had the good fortune to work with Callan on 300: Rise of an Empire and was very impressed with his incredible talent,” Snyder’s statement said. “He’s a fantastic actor and I’m looking forward to having the chance to work with him again. And, quite simply, Tao is a striking presence whose beauty is aptly rivaled by her amazing abilities as an actress. I’m really excited to have her joining us on this adventure.”
The rest of the cast includes Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman. Jesse Eisenberg is slated to play Lex Luther, Jeremy Irons will portray Alfred the butler while Amy Adams will reprise her role as Lois Lane.
Laurence Fishburne will also return as Perry White and Diane Lane will play Martha White. Additionally Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.
The screenplay will be written by David S. Goyer, from a story co-created by Goyer and Snyder.
Unofficially nicknamed Batman vs Superman, the film opens May 6, 2016.
