‘Avengers’ star Samuel L Jackson headed to ‘RoboCop’ reboot

Samuel L. Jackson will continue to be a very busy actor adding another Sci-Fi role to evergrowing resume. Following the blockbuster “The Avengers,” Jackson is certain to return as Nick Fury in future Marvel films, but will also play a key role in the new version of “RoboCop,” which will star Joel Kinnaman.

Heat Vision reported Wednesday that the “Unbreakable” star will join Kinnaman, Gary Oldman (“The Dark Knight Rises,” “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”) in the “RoboCop” reboot directed by Jose Padilha.

Jackson will play Pat Novak, a media mogul who is very powerful in this RoboCop universe.

“RoboCop” centers on a fallen police officer Alex Murphy, who is transformed into a cyborg peace keeper by a new scientific process (led by Oldman’s character Norton), but is in a struggle between his obligation to the corrupt corporation which created him and a search for his humanity.

Jackson is currently filming on Quentin Tarantino’s spaghetti western “Django Unchained” and is presumed to reprise his Nick Fury role for “Iron Man 3.”

“RoboCop” is set to start filming in September, primarily in Toronto, will a release date in theaters for August 9, 2013.
