‘Avengers Infinity War’ to have ‘very high stakes’ and a ‘price to pay’ for ‘a lot of characters’
While promoting a new studio in China, Joe and Anthony Russo spoke with the press about their upcoming films and Comic Book Movie had all the details from a Weeping Angel video clip, beginning with Captain America: Civil War, but also the two Infinity War Avengers films.
“The stakes of both Civil War and the Avengers: Infinity War movies are gonna be very high, and there will be a price to pay [for?] a lot of characters,” replied Joe Russo of the two-part Avengers: Infinity War.
“And that’s the whole point of cumulative storytelling. We’re going to go on emotional journeys with these characters. We’ve got a lot invested in the emotion. We have responsibilities to be mindful of how these people feel about the characters and, at the same time, we also have a responsibility to carry through on the storytelling. As filmmakers, we believe in stakes. You can’t have good storytelling without strong stakes. So, there will be a price to pay in Civil War. There will be characters that… [Inaudible].”
As for the Avengers: Infinity War event, the co-director says that “the stakes will be raised to a whole new level” and that “people should expect to be shocked when they see the movies.”

The two-part Avengers: Infinity War will tackle the ever-growing threat of Thanos taking matters of universal domination into his own hands. The infinity stones will play much bigger parts in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the superhero team and these are thoroughly explained in a featurette posted by IGN.
Latcham and Marvel president Kevin Feige also confirmed the existence of two different Infinity Gauntlets in the MCU – one locked up in Odin’s vault and one with Thanos.
Avengers: Infinity War part one is scheduled to hit theaters on May 4, 2018 while part two will debut a year later on May 3, 2019.
