‘Avatar’ star Zoe Saldana set to star in ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ remake
The Star Trek star Zoe Saldana has joined NBC as the star in the TV remake of Rosemary’s Baby.
Saldana will play the lead character played by Mia Farrow in the classic film directed by Roman Polanski.
“Zoe has proven that she is one of our most gifted actresses, and we think she has the perfect combination of spirit and gravitas to take on the title role from Ira Levin’s infamous novel,” said NBC’s head of longform Quinn Taylor.
“With Zoe leading the cast under the direction of Agnieszka Holland, this reimagined event miniseries is off to a great start.”
NBC announced plans to reboot the classic film into a miniseries last July, along with similar plans for other properties such as Stephen King’s The Tommyknockers.
This new miniseries will center on Rosemary (Saldana) and her husband moving into a Paris apartment haunted by a dark past.
Holland is directing the mini from a script by Scott Abbott. Production is set to begin shortly in Paris.
Saldana will next star in Marvel Studios’ film Guardians of the Galaxy before returning to the Avatar franchise for the three new films.
