‘Avatar 2’ ‘Avatar 3’ and ‘Avatar 4’ all set to film in New Zealand with tentative release dates

Director James Cameron continues to move forward with three Avatar sequels, now reportedly set to film in New Zealand.

The Wrap reports that Cameron and crew will be heading to the Southern Hemisphere to shoot, with the series to be shot in one back-to-back production.

The director made the announcement Monday with producer Jon Landau and New Zealand Prime Minister John Key in Wellington, N.Z. The films will be made by Twentieth Century Fox and Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment.

“The Avatar sequels will provide hundreds of jobs and thousands of hours of work directly in the screen sector as well as jobs right across the economy,” Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce said in a statement after the parties signed a memorandum of agreement on the projects.

Disney has already begun construction on an Avatar themed section of their Animal Kingdom theme park to boost fan enthusiam and cash in on the new films. Check out more on that story, the first concept art of this Pandora HERE

The first sequel is set to arrive in cinemas in December 2016, with its two follow-ups tentatively arriving in for 2017 and 2018 respectively.
