Ateneo de Manila University suspends classes after bomb threat, bomb threat called a hoax
Bomb threats in the form of text messages has forced the Ateneo de Manila University, Katipunan campus in Quezon City to suspend classes at 12 pm Wednesday, according to numerous media reports.
“Three text messages were sent around 9:20 a.m.,” Quezon City Police Department Chief Richard Albano said.
The administration suspended classes and office work at 12:00 PM onwards after three Ateneo employees received a text messages from a unregistered number saying, “May mga bomba na sasabog sa Ateneo. Paniguradong madaming studyante at emplyedo ang mamatay. 30 minuto mula ngayon. (Bombs will explode in the Ateneo. A lot of students and employees will surely be killed 30 minutes from now).”
University President Jose Ramon Villarin has since said in a memo that the Ateneo had been cleared of any bomb threats and police are following leads to find the perpetrator.

Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista said that the police have since traced the source of the text message to somewhere in Marikina City
Villarin said classes will resume on February 13 and the university will be tightening its security measures, according to the school newspaper, The Guidon.
