Arthur Suydam Brings Zombies To Life At The Tampa ComicCon
For older fans, the baby boomer comic book collectors, Arthur Suydam’s name is associated with “Heavy Metal” but Suydam has discovered new life with his work on “Marvel Zombies”. The comic book artist and musician has a lengthy resume including work on Epic Illustrated, National Lampoon and comics such as: Deadpool, Batman, Conan, Tarzan, Predator, Aliens and Death Dealer.
Over the last five years or so, Suydam skyrocketed in popularity with “Marvel Zombies”, even being dubbed the “Zombie King!” by Wizard magazine.
Preview the enormous spread Suydam brings to town and discover his impact on the comic book industry. The nucleus of the Tampa Comic Book Convention was home to a giant zombie version of Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe pop art, a zombie Jaws poster, a zombie Clint Eastwood “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” banner and the zombie baby paying homage to Nirvana’s “Nevermind”.
Fans were selecting from a sea of Suydam prints, cast over several tables, all showcasing the amazing work of the Zombie King. There was something for every comic collector, even a zombie Christ photo titled: “Jesus Hates Zombies”. (see below)
“I’m working on my own series. It was something that I started ten years ago” Suydam reveals. “I’m writing the story as well as doing the artwork”.
Fans will be euphoric.
But it’s not all about comic books.
