‘Arrow’ season 3 preview: Slade, Deathstroke back, Colton Haynes on ‘changes’ and is Diggle Green Lantern
Arrow season 3 has heated with tons of action and fans can only bank on more with the return of Deathstroke/Slade Wilson, played by Manu Bennett and co-star Colton Haynes promising a “forever change” near the season’s close.
Up next, in episode 14 titled “The Return,” Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke is making his return to the show. The official synopsis reads:
“Malcolm puts Oliver and Thea in a dangerous situation that lands them on Lian Yu with Oliver’s former enemy, Deathstroke. A flashback reveals when Oliver and Maseo returned to Starling City to retrieve the Omega bio weapon, and despite being under strict orders from Amanda Waller not to reveal himself to anyone, Oliver looks in on his family, Laurel and Tommy. Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim & Erik Oleson.”
TV Line asked Showrunner Andrew Kreisberg said if Slade is back in a flashback or if Stephen Amell’s Oliver will have his hands full again with the dynamic villain.
“Slade is definitely [resurfacing] in the present day. And his disposition remains unchanged. Not that he’s ever happy, but he’s particularly unhappy. When he comes back, he’s out for blood.”
Creator Marc Guggenheim confirms the coming changes in Arrow’s uniform.
“You’ll see a wide variety of changes coming for Arrow. There’s a lot that’s happening in the latter half of the year that will require some big, wholesale changes,” he told TVLine.
Well, that was confirmed by Haynes on his Twitter page.
Filming scenes tonight that will forever change the dynamic of the show. So much fun. #Arrow – @ColtonLHaynes
Some set photos hint at a possible secret – check that out here. Check out the new teaser below.
Arrow will air “The Return” on Feb. 18 on The CW.
BTW, When MTV News asked Guggenheim about Diggle being Green Lantern: “It’s funny, I’ve spoken to David quite a bit about this issue, I know it keeps coming up. I spoke to [writer] Geoff Johns at DC after that interview went viral. Basically, John Diggle is now a character in the comics… John Diggle is John Diggle. We’re not being coy and saying John Diggle is someone else, i.e. John Stewart. DC has other plans for that character. We love David, and we love the character of John Diggle that he’s created. We have really cool plans for him… they involve a wedding ring, but they don’t involve a power ring.”
