‘Arrow’ season 2 returns: Roy Harper super-powered, more Slade Wilson drama and Sebastian Blood
The first episode back for Arrow season 2 was ‘Blast Radius’ which sees Oliver (Stephen Amell) aggressively pursuing “the man in the skull mask” – who is, in fact, Starling City’s newest benefactor Sebastian Blood (Kevin Alejandro) – and working to thwart highly-trained urban terrorist Shrapnel (Sean Maher).
Viewers may have hoped for news on Flash, but The CW will transition that story into his own show.
Instead, it’s Thea’s boyfriend, Roy Harper (Colton Haynes), who is transformed, gathering superpowers.
Oliver Queen starts training Harper “Tremors” and the flashbacks to the island involved more drama from Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke.
The Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White) escapes from prison and steals Malcolm’s earthquake machine to sell to the highest bidder. Oliver, Diggle (David Ramsey) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) try to stop the transfer, but Roy gets in the way and puts everyone in danger.
Elsewhere, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is disbarred and spirals out of control. Finally, Moira (Susanna Thompson) is thrilled when Walter (Colin Salmon) asks her to dinner, but his reason surprises her. Thea (Willa Holland) encourages Moira to ask Walter to reconcile.
Things may seem complicated with more and more characters being added, but Amell has addressed this.
“We don’t say a character’s name unless that character is going to factor in. We don’t hint at something unless we’re going to pay it off,” Amell teases, likely in relation to Nyssa, as Ra’s and his daughter have been repeatedly mentioned in relation to Malcom, Sara Lance, and the League of Assassins. Nyssa will appear in episode 13, “Heir to the Demon,” an episode Amell says belongs to the Lance family.
