Director Alan Taylor appears to be balancing an ambitious approach to this film by blending the ideas of a reboot and a sequel, playing in the same Terminator canon, but with a whole new cast.

In this new version, Sarah has been raised by Schwarzenegger’s Terminator, an older T-800 she calls “Pops,” who is programmed to guard rather than to kill. Sarah is a highly trained “antisocial recluse who’s great with a sniper rifle but not so skilled at the nuances of human emotion.

Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, Matt Smith, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung Hun-Lee, Aaron Williamson and Jason Clarke, Terminator: Genisys will open in theaaters July 1, 2015.
