Arnold Schwarzenegger confirms ‘Terminator Genisys’ wrapped, T-800 detailed

Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed the new title for the forthcoming Terminator sequel while confirming that the film has wrapped production.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Terminator half face photo“Hasta la vista, baby,” reads the caption on Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s Instagram page. “I want to thank the cast and crew of @TerminatorGenisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding.”

Schwarzenegger returns as the treacherous cyborg with Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Zero Dark Thirty) as John Connor with Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese. The film will be the fifth in the franchise and while the title change is not official, “Genesis” is the description.

“From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup – we couldn’t have done it without you. I can’t wait to see our finished project and I know we’ll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I’ll be back.”

Aaron V. Williamson from 12 Years a Slave, GI Joe: Retaliation will play another Terminator, the T-80o.  Speaking with MTV, Schwarzenegger explained there are actually two versions of the same T-800 in Terminator: Genisys – a younger version and an older version that has been reprogrammed.

“Terminator deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800 and then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie.”

Schwarzenegger asserts that genetically engineered flesh also ages, so this explains the role of Williamson vs Arnie’s part:

“The way that the character is written, it’s a machine underneath. It’s this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator’s flesh ages, just like any other human being’s flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages.”

Directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones) and co-starring Emilia Clarke, Courtney, Matt Smith, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi  and Jason Clarke, Terminator: Genisys will open in theaaters July 1, 2015.
