Arizona Rep Trent Franks attacks Democrats on abortion, ‘taxpayers forced to pay for it’ ‘disgrace beyond my vocabulary’
The Democratic party’s platform that supports taxpayer-funded abortion on demand throughout all nine months of pregnancy is “true extremism,” Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) told LifeSiteNews in an exclusive video interview.
“I wish everyone could take an honest, sincere, clear look at the Democratic platform, the Democrat position on abortion,” Franks said. “They believe in abortion on demand for any reason or no reason throughout the nine months of pregnancy and they want government and taxpayers to be forced to pay for it. That’s their position, and I challenge any Democrat in America to say what’s wrong with that statement, to say what’s incorrect about that.”
It is a “disgrace beyond my vocabulary” that the vast majority of Democrats in the House of Representatives voted against the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, Franks said.
The bill, which he is sponsoring, would amend the federal criminal code to require healthcare practitioners to give medical care to children born alive after an abortion or abortion attempt and ensure that he or she is immediately admitted to a hospital. It would also make “an individual who commits an overt act that kills a child born alive … subject to criminal prosecution for murder.”

The bill passed the House last year but has not been brought to a vote in the Senate.
Franks said his top three legislative priorities for the pro-life movement are passing the Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act, the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, and the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
“The reason that I think those three are the most important is because each one of them, if they get a vote, will win,” Franks said. He said President Obama has already said he will veto the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which Franks called a “despicable mindset” because the bill would protect born, living children.
“Each one of [these bills] would have a distinct and in most cases profound impact on Roe versus Wade, because once we protect a child at some age and the American people begin to realize the humanity of these little children, and the inhumanity of what is being done to them, hearts and minds will change,” Franks said.
The Center for Medical Progress videos “essentially pulled the curtain back and let us seen inside the abortion chambers” of Planned Parenthood, Franks said, places “where they … murder little children and then profit from their little body parts.”
“If there is a horror story out there of greater consequence or more tragic consideration, I don’t know what it would be,” Franks said. “I think any reasonable person, once they see these videos, and know how real they are … would come to the conclusion that the sands of time ought to blow over the Capitol Dome before we give this evil organization of Planned Parenthood one more dime of taxpayer money.”
Franks said that although he didn’t support Donald Trump in the Republican primary, he has “become a believer over time that this man really does have something in his heart that he wants to do for America.”
