Are you a Democrat or Republican: Mississippi school teaching students political stereotypes
Common Core has become a hot topic for parents, teachers and students, especially since Education Secretary Arne Duncan targeted critics using race. Now a political “quiz” for 6th graders asks students a series of questions to determine their political affiliation – only Democrats or Republicans.
Posted on the Stop Common Core in Mississippi Facebook page:
“This was given to 6th graders at Milam elementary in Tupelo, MS. It is the 6th grade school. They were told to not speak about it outside of class and to not take it home. She snuck it home because she knew her parents would want to see it.”
The questions are being scrutinized because they seem to be oversimplified stereotypes of both parties.
For example:
Health Care: D-Everyone should be able to have health care regardless of income R-If you cannot pay then you will make a lot of payments or not have any care
Death Penalty: D-Against it-Does not prevent crime and criminals should go to treatment centers R-For It-It should be considered only in certain situations and could prevent more
Taxes: D-Make wealthy people pay more than the poor or less fortunate R-Cutting taxes for all people helps our economy and saves money later on
