Anthony Parker cold case murder: Jimel Frank, Karl Roye arrested
Two Connecticut residents have been charged with murder in the shooting death of a Anthony Parker in 2011. The arrests may be end to a long cold case roadblock in the case.
Jimel Frank, 27, and Karl Roye, 24, were arrested on federal charges, accused of shooting and killing Anthony Parker, 24, of Windsor, while he was sitting in car parked on Thomaston Street in Hartford in April 2011.
FBI’s Northern Connecticut Violent Crimes Task Force, DEA and Hartford Police Department into narcotics trafficking identified Frank, also known as “30” and Velly” while Roye is also known as “Eagle” – Parker’s nickname is “Smooth.”
Parker was found alive but pronounced dead at Saint Francis Hospital, according to police.
Frank and Roy were each charged with engaging in, and conspiring to engage in, a violent crime in the aid of racketeering in connection with Parker’s murder, federal prosecutors said.
The U.S. attorney’s office said in a statement that the arrest stems from a joint investigation into drug trafficking and violence on the part of the WestHell and Team Grease gangs.
Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane noted that the unsolved homicide of Anthony “Smooth” Parker was included in cold case playing cards sold to inmates in Connecticut’s state correctional facilities. Each card in the deck features a photograph and brief details about a homicide or missing person case and lists telephone, mail and e-mail contacts that inmates can use to supply information.
Both face life in prison if convicted.
