‘Ant-Man’ trailer, photos, script details, Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly
Disney and Marvel Studios released the first Ant-Man trailer during Agent Carter and new photos, details are certain to excite fans. Paul Rudd stars as con-man Scott Lang, who struggles to find his “inner hero” and join with mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas, to pull off an incredible “heist.”
The trailer offers the obligatory “hero shirtless” shot, which has become one of the staples of the Marvel films, and the Comic-Con effects of Ant-Man flying atop one of his bugs.
According to Disney’s press release for the new trailer, the official “screenplay by” credit goes to Adam McKay and Rudd, while Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish get a “story by” credit and Wright remains credited as an executive producer.
During an interview with Collider, McKay elaborated on how much work he and Rudd did on the script, saying they added a “giant action sequence” and made the film “a little bigger, a little more aggressive, and funnier in places.”
Director Peyton Reed tells EW on the opening sequence that sets the story in motion:
“When we first meet Lang, he is in prison for stealing from the CEO of a company that was itself stealing from its employees. “There’s a prison fight and you’ve got to buy Paul in that role,” says Reed. Lang longs to go straight—he has a young daughter he wants to build a relationship with—but when he leaves the big house, he ends up nabbing Pym’s Ant-Man suit. Was he set up? “There might be stuff going on that Scott doesn’t know about that’s a lot bigger than him,” Reed says.
Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, Gregg Turkington, T.I., and John Slattery also star.
