‘Ant-Man’ cast Martin Donovan as Judy Greer praises Paul Rudd, Peyton Reed
Ant-Man has a new cast member as news broke that Homeland star Martin Donovan will play a “pivotal role in the film,” but little else is known. Co-star Judy Greer talked about her interest in the film, praising Paul Rudd and director Peyton Reed.
“Donovan’s role is being kept under wraps, but sources say it is pivotal to the story,” the THR reported. Rudd plays a con man Scott Lang who steals technology from Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) which enables the user to shrink down to insect size. Pym mentors Lang, who becomes the Ant-Man.
“Who doesn’t love Paul Rudd? And Peyton Reed directed one of my all-time favourite movies, The Break Up, so I love the idea of a guy who can direct the sh*t out of a romantic comedy doing a superhero/action movie because that’s the stuff that’s going to make the movie great, is the comedy,” said co-star Judy Greer when asked about the film in Movie Pilot.
“That’s what I loved about Guardians of the Galaxy, the comedy and the real personalities of the characters. It wasn’t just like ‘I’m a tough superhero and I’m going to kick some ass.'”
Like many of the Marvel films, the story is still about relationships.
“There’s interpersonal relationships that are being dealt with, there’s successes and failures, there’s comedy. That was what I was excited about, and Paul Rudd,” said the actress about Ant-Man not being just a superhero film.
Greer did confess to being a fan of a superhero when she was a child.
“Wonder Woman! I loved Wonder Woman. I had Wonder Woman underoos, I was obsessed with the show. That was my jam.”

Ant-Man is slated for release on July 17, 2015. The cast of the film includes Rudd, Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Michael Peña, Donovan, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, Abby Ryder Fortson and Gregg Turkington.
