‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ set to start filming this summer in Georgia
Of all the upcoming Marvel Studios’ films, little has been said or confirmed about the Ant-Man sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is slated for 2018. Now a listing at My Entertainment World confirmed the production start for Ant-Man 2.
While no specific locations were given, the production will likely utilize Pinewood Atlanta Studios, which is where the first Ant-Man was shot. Marvel sequels Captain America: Civil War and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 were also shot at Pinewood Atlanta Studios, along with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence’s new sci-fi thriller Passengers.
Filming will start this June in Atlanta with just over a year planned for the project and post-production before its July 6, 2018 release date.
So fans can be hopeful that production starting so soon will result in more news about the story, new cast members and a villain.
Peyton Reed will return to direct, with a familiar team of writers working on the script. Star Paul Rudd will certainly be reprising his Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man, role with Evangeline Lilly as The Wasp, whose new suit was revealed during one of the Ant-Man post-credits sequences. One key element is Lang’s ability to enlarge into Giant Man, which he did during the big battle scene in Civil War.
It was also recently confirmed that Michael Pena will return as Luis, but it isn’t known if other Ant-Man stars such as David Dastmalchian or Michael Douglas will be back to reprise their roles. Douglas has said in the past that he would like to return, provided that he wasn’t given nearly as much exposition in the sequel as he was given in the first movie.
Marvel will kick off the summer movie season with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on May 5, followed by the highly-anticipated Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 7 and Thor: Ragnarok on November 3. Black Panther will then kick off 2018 with a February 16 release date before Avengers: Infinity War comes to theaters on May 4, 2018.
Ant-Man and the Wasp arrives in theaters on July 6, 2018
