‘Ant-Man’ adds a villain by casting ‘Avatar’ ‘GI Joe’ star Matt Gerald
Marvel’s Ant-Man has added another name to the growing cast with Matt Gerald playing a “villainous character.”
Deadline notes in their coverage that “Gerald will play one of the bad guys. He recently wrapped Solace with Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell…”
Gerald was recently seen in the Marvel one-shot Hail To The King, in which he played a prison bruiser named White Power Dave. No word on whether he will be reprising the same role, but it has been noted online that occasional Ant-Man antagonist, Whirlwind, is also named Dave Cannon.
Gerald will lilely be playing a secondary villain, with a bigger name likely to be lined up for the film’s primary antagonist (Patrick Wilson’s role perhaps)
Ant-Man will be the first film in the third phase of Marvel Films, beginning next year.
Directed by Edgar Wright and co-starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Patrick Wilson and Evangeline Lilly, Ant-Man will arrive in theaters July 31, 2015.
