Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore and Ellen Page all set for ‘X-Men Days of Future Past’
The sequel to 2011’s “X-Men: First Class” is set to begin production and three more cast members from the original trilogy are onboard with director Bryan Singer for the time travel themed “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
“Very excited to welcome #annapaquin, @ellenpage & @shawnrashmore to #XMen #DaysofFuturePast – thank you @BrettRatner for letting them live!”
Singer is referring to director Brett Ratner who helmed “X-Men: Last Stand” when Singer bailed to direct “Superman Returns.”
Rogue (Paquin), Iceman (Ashmore) and Kitty Pryde (Page) are going to be joined the original cast of Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Hugh Jackman who will all be reprising their roles at Professor Xavier, Magneto and Wolverine respectively.
“First Class” star Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult are confirmed to return and continue their characters.
“Days of Future Past” in the comic books was a 1981 story where an alternate reality has the X-Men hunted and killed. The time travel elements of the story can bridge the gaps from the 1960’s characters of “First Class” and those from the first three films. Many fans are expected a reboot similar to JJ Abrams’ work in the “Star Trek” franchise.
“X-Men”Days of Future Past” opens in theaters July 18, 2014.
