Andy Serkis takes center stage in ‘Black Panther’ trailer, chaos in Wakanda
The first teaser trailer for Marvel’s Black Panther aired during game four of the 2017 NBA Finals and fans are thrilled to be getting a dose of Chadwick Boseman’s character, introduced in Captain America: Civil War.
Opening on Andy Serkis’ Ulysses Klaw describing Wakanda as “El Dorado” and as an advanced African nation with hidden secrets and scoffing at SHIELD’s Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and then the action begins.
Director Ryan Coogler‘s vision of Wakanda takes over as T’Challa will be battling for control of his nation. Michael B Jordan is a crazed brother full of angst named Erik Killmonger, gunning for the throne and Winston Duke will play the antagonist Man-Ape.
There are already plenty facts to be learned from the teaser: Warrior Falls will be the setting of his coronation, Ayo, played by Florence Kasumba and first seen in Civil War returns, fans get a peak at Okoye, played by The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira, the leader of the Dora Milaje and Nakia, played by Lupita Nyong’o.
Nakia falls deeply in love with T’Challa in the comic books, and her obsession with him eventually made her an enemy.
King T’Chaka (John Kani) is giving the voiceover in the second half of the trailer, intoning, “You are a good man with a good heart. And it’s hard for a good man to be king.”
