According to the study, in 2019 New York was the most visited city in America with 14 million 10 thousand international tourists. This year the John F. Kennedy International Airport registered an increase despite the inconveniences that have arisen throughout this year. On the other hand, only one destination in Latin America is in the Top 10 of preferred destinations for foreigners. Cancun received 6 million 150 thousand international tourists (those who visit a place for at least 24 hours and up to 12 months).

And not only did it enter the Top 10, but with this amount, the city of Quintana Roo ranked as the fifth most visited city in America. These were the first 10 places of the continent in the year:

  1. New York (United States): 14,010,000,000
  2. Miami (United States): 8,336,800,000
  3. Los Angeles (United States): 7,725,900,000
  4. Las Vegas (United States): 6,639,300,000
  5. Cancun (Mexico): 6,150,000,000
  6. Orlando (USA): 5,725,700,000
  7. Toronto (Canada): 4,735,800,000
  8. Vancouver (Canada): 3,398,400,000
  9. San Francisco (USA): 2,987,500,000
  10. Honolulu (USA): 2 ,853,100,000

This increase of affluence to the destination of Cancun, is mainly due to the increase of aerial Routes that arrive at the international airport of Cancun, to the improvement of hotel services, and Cancun airport transportation services.

In the 2019 list, there are only four Latin American cities: Cancun (40th place), Buenos Aires (85th), Lima (89th) and Rio de Janeiro (98th).

Cancun is the only Mexican city on Euromonitor International’s list of the 100 most visited cities in 2019.

In total the Top 10 of cities belong to North America, counting in addition with two cities of Canada that have been attractive mainly by a great amount of photographers, mountaineers and lovers of the walks by its forests.

Honolulu airport has some of the best services among U.S. airports, and is that for years Hawaii has been consecrated as one of the favorite destinations for Americans to escape the cold of winter.

Something expected and at the same time curious is that the majority of visits have been for recreational purposes, and of the total of 10 cities 7 are from the United States.

Although New York is the only city in America to be in the Top 10 in the world, most of the cities in the World Top are Asian, as you can see:

  1. Hong Kong (China): 26,716,800 arrivals

2.Bangkok (Thailand): 25,847,800 arrivals

  1. London (England): 19,559,900 arrivals
  2. Macau: 20,637,100 arrivals
  3. Singapore: 19,760,800 arrivals
  4. Paris (France): 19,087,900 arrivals
  5. Dubai (United Arab Emirates): 16,328,300 arrivals
  6. New York City (USA): 14,010,000 arrivals
  7. Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia): 14,072,400 arrivals
  8. Istanbul (Turkey): 14,715,900 arrivals

For the second year in a row, Asian destinations are ranked among the top most visited cities in the world, according to Euromonitor International report.
