‘American Sniper’ interview: Ben Reed discusses Bradley Cooper, the Kyle family and Clint Eastwood on set
The adaptation of Chris Kyle’s life, American Sniper, hits theaters and actor Ben Reed spoke in an exclusive interview about working with Clint Eastwood, praising star Bradley Cooper and what it was like on set.
Ben plays Kyle’s father and he explains how he turned to his own father, who reflected on the feelings of seeing Ben’s brother leave to serve in the military.
From auditioning to reading the book to meeting Eastwood on set, Reed chronicles an incredible behind-the-scenes journey on production.
“The set was so quiet…calm,” Reed says, contrasting this experience with “yelling, like on other crews.”
Ben praises Bradley Cooper’s performance as “phenomenal” and “his reactions were amazing” noting that he truly captures the battle with PTSD, which is the “heart of the matter.”
Reed has moved into creator mode with Starcrossed, an Indy film getting rave reviews on the festival circuit. He was the director and producer on the project and explains the story, how he developed the script for this “dark, romantic drama” and confesses that he enjoyed the “control.”
Reed has a long resume of great projects, tons of TV appearance and the conversation led to his role on Seinfeld as the male nurse…a story and a memory you don’t want to miss.
