‘American Horror Story Asylum’ season finale concludes season 2, season 3 already being written

Wednesday’s season finale of FX’s American Horror Story: Asylum not only wrapped up the fans favorite characters’ arcs, it concluded the show’s entire second season.

Jessica-Lange AMerican Horror StoryTwelve episodes can summarize the web of plotlines down to the three major arcs.  Since the theme of season two is insanity, it’s very fitting that the final episode was titled, “Madness Ends.”  We see how these mental maladies took their final tolls on Cardinal Timothy Howard, Sister Jude, Kit, Lana and Johnny in the finale.

Everything appears to be wrapped yet never sacrificing the season long exploration into insanity.

Creator Ryan Murphy now looks forward to season 3 by reflecting on this season.

“The thing that we were the most interested in this season was the stuff in the last episode, with the documentary series that Lana (Sarah Paulson) made about shutting down Briarcliff.  That’s one of the first things, when I, with the writers, landed on the idea of Asylum, with that period of time and those documentaries that were made. ”

The next is well underway says Murphy.

“I start working with the writers on Season 3 on Monday.  I already know what the season is, so I’ll work the writers and flush it out.  And then, I go and talk to John Landgraf and Dana Walden, and I’ll pitch the whole season.  That’s a really great thing to do.  And then, after we pitch it, we start writing it. ”

I’m glad that this season of American Horror Story will wrap up all of the storylines since I was a bit put-off by what happened last year. I agree that the focus has been on Sister Jude, Kit and Lana and I’ll be excited to see how it all ends for these characters. I’m going to have to wait until tomorrow to speak to my DISH coworkers to see their take on the finale since I missed last night’s airing. I will be watching it later today since I recorded it on my DISH Hopper. I like to keep up with shows that I miss on my time and I can do that without needing to delete other programs to make space because my DVR holds up to 2,000 hours of entertainment.
