Amber Heard talks ‘Justice League’ and ‘Aquaman’ Mera costume, half armor, half scales
The DC cinematic universe expands this week with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and actress Amber Heard has confirmed that she’ll be a part of future films, playing Mera, the Queen of Atlantis, in both Aquaman and Justice League: Part One.
Heard revealed the news to Entertainment Tonight, discussing the concepts for her costume for the film; “It’s interesting. It’s like, half suit of armor, half scales. It’s strange… We’re in the process of building it now, so it’s coming along.”
She’ll star opposite Games of Thrones star Jason Momoa, cast as Aquaman himself and making an appearance in Dawn of Justice.
In the comics, Mera arrived to Earth having fled her own kingdom; she eventually gives up her throne to marry Aquaman and becomes Queen of Atlantis.
Justice League: Part One will also star Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill’s Superman, Ben Affleck’s Batman, Amy Adams’ Lois Lane, Ezra Miller’s The Flash, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, and J.K. Simmons’ Commissioner Gordon.
Zack Snyder is set to return and direct two Justice League films with James Wan (Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring) directing the film. Green Lantern, a role which remains uncasted, is said to be joining the team in “part two.”
Justice League: Part One will hit theaters on November 17, 2017, followed by Aquaman on July 27, 2018.
