Alt-left fascists attack Mark Duplass over a civil conversation with Ben Shapiro, James Gunn chimes in
We have another example of the social justice Nazis and Alt-left fascists attacking a liberal for being civil with someone on the other side of the political aisle. This time it isaActor and filmmaker Mark Duplass (The League), who has now had to apologize and delete a tweet about “crossing the aisle” and talking with Ben Shapiro.
“Fellow liberal: If you are interested at all in ‘crossing the aisle’ you should consider following @BenShapiro. I don’t agree with him on much but he’s a genuine person who once helped me for no other reason than to be nice. He doesn’t bend the truth. His intentions are good.”
That tweet has since been deleted.
Why?
Because of the insane backlash against the celebrity. In fact, the pressure has been SO GREAT as Duplass was slammed across social media.
Numerous writers pointed to Shapiro’s history of publishing racist tweets, including one post in which he blamed Trayvon Martin for getting himself shot and killed because he “took a man’s head and beat it on the pavement.”
Let’s chronicle some more:
Actual liberal here: get the f*** out of here with this garbage take from Hell.

i am suddenly less surprised that TOGETHERNESS became a show about how charter schools are the only way to protect and educate mark duplass’ children

no, they aren’t. his intentions are terrible, as many are showing you using his own words.

Plainly evident from following Mark Duplass for a while that he’s such a good dude that he’d probably sit down and have a calm conversation with Satan if he could. He’d listen to Satan. He’d *try* to talk Satan into doing some good. That’s clearly who he is and I respect that.

It’s always white men who think crossing the aisle is just about respecting a difference of opinion or willingness to be open minded.
A lot of us have our lives and human rights put in jeopardy by the horseshit people like Ben promote.
But cool, an asshole was nice to you once.

This is Duplass now: “I’m really sorry,” Duplass tweeted Thursday morning. “I now understand that I need to be more diligent and careful. I’m working on that. I want to be clear that I in no way endorse hatred, racism, homophobia, xenophobia or any such form of intolerance.”
Duplass said the tweet was meant to encourage unity, but admitted “sometimes I move too quickly when I get excited, or fail to do enough research.”
Shapiro responded to the controversy with his own tweet criticizing the backlash on Wednesday.
“Good stuff, guys. Really showing that tolerant streak,” Shapiro tweeted.
“Today’s Leftist lesson on Twitter: write a nice tweet about someone with whom you disagree politically, get labeled a racist sexist homophobe. Good stuff, guys. Really showing that tolerant streak.
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) July 18, 2018″
Shapiro opened his show on the topic, check it out below.
Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn stepped in to defend his fellow director, stating that he does not support Shapiro’s views, but encouraged people to save their outrage over Duplass and use it for the “traitors and racists” in America who deserve scorn.
Read Gunn’s full thoughts on the Duplass controversy below. IndieWire has reached out to Duplass’ representatives for further comment.
Maybe you disagree with Mark Duplass, which is completely fair (personally I think even Ben Shapiro’s mother should unfollow him). But that doesn’t make Duplass’ point-of-view evil. There are a lot of traitors & racists in the country today. Perhaps save the outrage for them. 1

Not everyone can be right all the time about everything, and, if you think that’s possible, then eventually you’re going to be standing by yourself, “right,” but alone. 2

We have a President who’s an operative for a foreign nation at our helm. We have immigrant children still held without parents. Our election was attacked by Russia and the corrupt GOP is doing everything to make sure we don’t put protections in place against it happening again. 3

Mark Duplass tweeting how you should follow an asshole because he thinks it’s the kind thing to do simply can’t be the bar for moral outrage.
Have a good day. 4/END

The incredible intolerance from the left should be shocking to Democrats and liberals, racing to censor ANYONE who disagrees with them. Shapiro was anti-Trump during the election in 2016, but represents an ambiguous “Right wing” and must be attacked by SJWs.
Full Duplass tweet to correct his “ill ways”:
So that tweet was a disaster on many levels. I want to be clear that I in no way endorse hatred, racism, homophobia, xenophobia or any form of intolerance. My goal has always been to spread unity, understanding and kindness. But I am going to make mistakes along the way. Sometimes I move too quickly when I get excited, or fail to do enough research, or I don’t communicate myself clearly. I’m really sorry. I now understand that I need to be more diligent and careful. I’m working on that. But, I do believe deeply in bi-partisan understanding and I will continue to do my best to promote peace and decency in this world right now. That said, I hear you. I want to say thank you to those who reached out with constructive criticism. I have genuinely learned so much and wish everyone the best.
