‘Allegiant’ part one films in May, ‘mind blowing’ as Theo James, Miles Teller talks
As the Divergent sequel, Insurgent, arrives in theaters, the third film in the franchise, Allegiant, is set to film in May with the cast, Theo James and Miles Teller, still in the dark on many of the details.
Producer Todd Lieberman teased a visually mind-blowing film set in a “whole different world,” stating that “I don’t want to promise too much, but I can say that the things that we’ve talked about have been very, very cool. There’s going to be some really mind-blowing visuals. Those who have read the book know where it goes. It goes into a whole different world, and we’re really excited to explore that.”
James, who plays Four, told SugarScape that the ending to Insurgent will introduce Four and Tris’ as parents.
“They’re going steady.” He then joked about how the two are taking precautions because they do not want to have children yet and the story arc about their family will be included in the last insallment of the series.
“They’re having twins: Bertie and Bernadette,” he joked.
Teller told MTV News that he definitely hasn’t read Allegiant, the final book in the series: “The way the second (film) leaves you — I ignorantly have not read Allegiant so I’m excited to see what happens next. And it’s very easy to find out, but I don’t like to know those things. But at the end of the second one I was like sweet, I want to know what happens next. So I’ll see when I read the script.”
Lieberman explains why the final book will be made into two films.
“We’re taking Allegiant and splitting it into two, so the first part of it won’t go that far. But yeah, the book had that ending, and there was certainly controversy over it. Personally, I feel that it’s an important arc for that character. But we haven’t actually discussed too much of that yet…they’re beloved characters. I can see how that would cause a controversy. Sometimes you have to make bold choices, creatively. I’m always in favor of that.”
The film also stars Ansel Elgort, Naomi Watts and Jae Hitch.
Allegiant Part 1 arrives March 18, 2016 with Part 2 coming March 24, 2017.
