Alabama: Stephaughn Joseph arrested for murder of David Harper without bond
Jefferson County officials in Alabama have arrested Stephaughn Jerrod Joseph on Friday, held on charges of capital murder, theft and burglary in the killing of David Clifton Harper.
Bessemer police Lt. Christian Clemons detailed that Harper, 77, of Bessemer, was found dead in his home late Tuesday morning by Bessemer police officers and determined he was the victim of a homicide.
Clemons added that Harper’s car was also missing from his home on the 1500 block of Dartmouth Avenue.
Joseph was spotted by officers a few blocks from the crime scene.
The suspect then fled on foot and “unlawfully entered a home” during the pursuit, police said.
Joseph was eventually captured, arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
