The McHenry County coroner’s office identified the body found Saturday in an unincorporated area of suburban McHenry County as the 18-year-old Illinois man, Aidan Beckford, who who had been missing for a week.
Beckford was identified by a family member after police responded to a call in the area of Nish Road and Highview Road in Nunda Township. This area includes a wooded tract, the Fox River and a neighborhood of single family homes.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday to determine the cause and manner of his death.
“Unfortunately the outcome was not one that we wanted,” Aidan’s stepmother, Jackie Schmult Beckford, posted to a Facebook event page for Saturday’s search.
“Aidan was found deceased by one of the volunteers who came out today with his dog. We have no further information at this time. We would like to request continued prayers for the family, friends, first responders who helped and the man who found him.”
Beckford was last seen about 9:30 p.m. Aug. 30 when he ran off following an argument with a relative near the area where his body was found, the McHenry County sheriff’s office said in a statement when he was reported missing.
His family, law enforcement and volunteers had tirelessly searched the area around Nish Road and Highview where he had exited the vehicle and was last seen.
Beckford reportedly was wearing shorts and t-shirt and had no shoes, money or cell phone on him when he went missing.
Police stated that they confirm the investigation ongoing.
