Adina Porter interview: ‘True Blood’ ‘The Newsroom’ ‘The 100’

The CW’s hit show The 100 has added True Blood and The Newsroom actress Adina Porter to their amazing cast. Adina joins season 2 as a tribe leader Indra, but reflects on her experiences on the famed HBO shows.

After talking about the hit CW show, the stunts and how Marie Avgeropoulos is a “badass,” she details the life with True Blood.

Adina Porter publicity photo“Absolutely,” she says when asked if they became family on True Blood. “When you feel safe on set…when you feel like everyone is supporting you, when it’s the other cast members as well as the crew (noting that “90% of the crew was there for all seven years”)…you can get ugly, you can get naked, emotionally and physcially, because you know you are in a safe environment.”

Porter played Letite Mae Daniels, mother of Tara Mae Thornton (played by Rutina Wesley) and praises Alan Ball, HBO and says she is “still surprised at how big True Blood is…”

Adina which scenes Adina has watched, and most surprising, which she has not – fans may be surprised by this story.

Even more interesting, Adina reveals that watching a show she’s in is not going to be “relaxing,” a great way of conveying the obstacle of “watching yourself.”

Next, she the details about The Newsroom set, challenges of filming with all of the “reflections everywhere,” nicknamed the set “the glass room” and you can’t be caught mouthing “rubarb, rubarb, rubarb….”

Of course, the ending of The Newsroom, the fate of Charlie (Sam Waterston) is a truly emotional and remarkable tale that Adina explains beautifully.

The 100 airs Wednesday on the CW at 9pm ET
