Abortion group NARAL demonizes Doritos ad for ‘humanizing’ the fetus
With each Super Bowl comes a new crop of great commercials and Doritos delivered another big hitter, centering on a woman delivering a baby while the father chomps away on his Doritos. As the chip is moved, the baby on the ultrasound reacts until the chip is tossed aside and the baby “shoots out.”
Check out the ad below.
Some pro-choice activists were upset by the ad. This is not a satirical tweet but a real thing that a mainstream, pro-abortion group called NARAL Pro-Choice America (formerly National Abortion Rights Action League) wrote in response:
#NotBuyingIt – that @Doritos ad using #antichoice tactic of humanizing fetuses & sexist tropes of dads as clueless & moms as uptight. #SB50

As NRO’s Jay Nordlinger noted earlier, the ad dares to portray the unborn child as human, and “not a meaningless blob of protoplasm” – an outrageous depiction according to NARAL.
Huffington Post’s headline was “Doritos’ Super Bowl Ad Is Making Us Rethink Ever Eating Doritos Again.” Adweek had the utterly bizarre headline: “How Doritos’ Super Bowl Ad Kicked Off a Twitter Conversation About Birth Control” followed by a deranged subhead: “‘Ultrasound’ got consumers talking about abortion.”
NARAL’s Twitter feed during the Big Game was generally joyless, pointing out micoraggression after microaggresion, each time urging followers to boycott the products with the hashtag #NotBuyingIt.
Another miss for @Hyundai – In their world, women are bad drivers who get distracted by the mere sight of a man. #NotBuyingIt #SB50
