ABC cancels ‘Agent Carter’ season 3, ‘Most Wanted’ not moving ahead

Marvel has ended TV’s Peggy Carter, now renewing the ABC drama Agent Carter after two seasons,The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The second of Marvel’s ABC dramas, while a critical favorite, was never a ratings breakthrough. Led by Hayley Atwell, the show returned as a “gap” show under former ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee.

Despite heaps of praise from critics, Carter finished its limited run with a 1.4 rating among adults under 50 and 4.3 million total viewers with DVR, both a far cry from Agents of SHIELD.

Atwell already booked the lead in ABC’s new procedural show titled Conviction.

ABC was now spinning off popular Agents of SHIELD favorites Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood for Marvel’s Most Wanted, a more natural extension of the already renewed flagship series.

New reports confirm that ABC has passed on picking up Agents of SHIELD spinoff Marvel’s Most Wanted after redeveloping the project from last year.

Following the adventures of Bobbi Morse (aka Mockingbird) and Lance Hunter, SHIELD favorites Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood were set to reprise their roles after exiting the flagship series earlier this season. Delroy Lindo, Oded Fehr and Fernana Andrade were set to co-star in the drama from writer Paul Zbyszewski.

“We’re very proud of all the hard work, from Jeff Bell and Paul Zbyszewski’s writing and producing to the incredible cast, especially the supremely talented Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood, who we adore,” executive-producer Jeph LoebLoeb told EW in a statement.
