AAIM Development: The Importance of Continuing Education In Your Adult Life
Many people cannot wait to finish school and get into the real world, vowing never to return to education again. Unfortunately however this attitude is flawed and if anything adults should look to find ways ini hick they can continue their education as they get older. I have a good friend who works for AAIM Development, a companies which helps businesses to implement training programs for their staff. These training incentives were what inspired her to attend night school and she asked me if I wanted to join with her. I welcomed this opportunity with open arms and since that course finished back in 2013, I have continued with more courses which have boosted my education.
This is something which is vitally important for adults and here is why.
Career Switch
If you have chosen a career which has grown stale you may feel that you are somewhat trapped by it. I have many friends who really aren’t in love with their job but given their responsibilities such as kids, mortgages and other debts, they feel as though they simply have to stay where they are. Education can provide these people with a chance to go after a career which they do love, they can upskill and use adult education to completely transform their lives. Don’t ever think that you can’t go backwards a couple of steps in order to leap forward into the future.
Brain Health
Once you stop learning you begin to stop challenging your brain, a very dangerous thing to do. When your brain is not challenged over a long period of time it starts to close off certain pathways, and many areas of the brain become lazy, much the same as a muscle would when you stopped exercising. The long term effects of this are things like problems when you reach an older age such as dementia and Alzheimer’s, indicating the importance of keeping those cogs turning and to continuously work on making sure that you are challenging your grey matter.
Things Change
Even if you are happy in the career that you have, you have to remember that things are changing all of the time and it is vital that you do all that you can to stay up to date with what is happening. If you have been in your career for even 15 years, the new people coming into the same career have a far wider amount of knowledge than you, simply because they have learned the most recent advancements and changes in the industry. Your experience will of course count for a great deal, but the longer that you go without staying on top of the modernizations that have been made, could see you very quickly become a relic of the past.
Education is not just for kids, it is for everyone who is willing to learn and if you do this in your adult life, you can count on so many benefits as a result.
