Do Some Budgeting

In making a construction Christmas card, there are three basic costs that you should consider: design, printing and postage. You would have to allocate and shell out a bigger amount of money if you opt to use a design and print service compared to doing it on your own. The type of card to be used is also a factor; low quality card usually costs around $1.50 while high quality cards will cost around $3.

Knowing what each card cost will make it a lot easier for you to figure out the client list-size when you already have a budget in place. Take for instance, if your desired budget is $500, you can divide it to the cost on which type of card you would choose – the low quality or high quality. If you choose the low quality card, then you could send out around three hundred (300) cards and, on the other hand, if you choose the high quality you send out around two hundred (200) cards with your $500 budget.

Establish the Reason Why You are Sending the Card

It is essential for you to know first on what is the main purpose of sending out the business card. This would help you narrow down your list and will help you decide on what should be the card’s proper design and message. There are varying reasons why you want to send out a card and certainly, it can fulfill more than one purpose at a time. But having a specific purpose for the card will help you hasten up the process in deciding on the design and content of the Christmas card, thus, making it easier for you to narrow your contact list on whom to send out the cards. Reasons on why you send out Christmas cards may include the following: re-establish communication, thank the client and to spread the word about the business.

If your purpose in sending the card out is to re-establish contact, the card should have a warm feel and is message oriented. It would usually include a holiday greeting and the business’ picture. A personalized or handwritten message should say something about reconnecting, for instance, “Let us meet up soon!” Furthermore, if you just basically want to thank your clients, a simple “Thank you for your patronage” will suffice.

Make a List to Whom You Will Send the Cards

You have to check your contact list to figure out and filter the clients or customers whom you will be sending the cards basing on the main purpose of why you are sending it. This is especially true if you have thousands of contacts. It would be a very tedious task making each and every card personalized. Furthermore, it would not be budget friendly to send out thousands of cards.

Make an Eye-Catching Card

Design your construction Christmas card uniquely that it will stand out. This will make people want to read and even display it. To do this, here are some tips on designing the card:

Minimalist and Classy

You will never go wrong if you will go for the minimalist and classy style. Neutral and/or flat colors are the ones usually used for this design. It is a rule of thumb not to use three or more colors on the card because it will be hard on the eyes and it will seem messy.

Incorporating Business with the Design and Message

You can integrate your business’ logo or your team picture with the card. This way it will add a more personal touch to the card.

Use Pictures to Your Advantage

Images can help add a wow factor to the card if used well. Avoid using grainy quality pictures as this will make the client think that you are not putting an extra effort in making the card. Also, as much as possible, do not use stock images. It would be best to use a picture of your company or of your team. Clients would appreciate it more if you highlight the fact that the business is available locally and that you have close business relationship.

Plan out what your message should be.

Keep it brief but straight to the point. Typically, the message of the card would just be around three to five sentences. It should be put in mind that the main purpose of the card is to touch base with the client and not tell a story, catch up, nor to hard sell. Although the message is brief, it does not mean that it is meaningless. In addition, the message should have a personal touch. Naming the client you will be sending it to will let them appreciate it more knowing that you are not just mass sending to just anyone on your client list.

Address the cards, put the stamps and post them.

When addressing the cards, writing it by hand will make more impact to the receiver. It will give a more personal feel than a sticker or typing it. The same is also true when putting a stamp; this would let the client think that you are not just sending the card to everyone in general.

The best time to send out your construction Christmas cards will be mailing it not later than the second of December. This will ensure that your clients will be receiving their cards just in time for the holiday season and not later than that. Post offices get really busy during the holidays and this will result in the delay of sending the cards out.
