97-year-old Rachel Andrews pleads for her life during 911 call, murdered by daughter Gail Andrews Miller
Metro Police in Tennessee identified the three people were killed in a murder-suicide at a home near Belle Meade. Police revealed that Gail Andrews Miller killed her mother, Rachel Andrews and her sister, Barbara Andrews.
Rachel Andrews, 97, called 911 and the operator could hear her begging for her life, pleading her daughter not to kill her.
“Another woman was heard by the 911 operator saying I have to, hang the phone up. Mama, hang the phone up,” said Metro Police Spokesperson Don Aaron.
Aaron said the phone was then disconnected.
Gail Andrews Miller, 65, went to 243 Cana Circle in Cloister at St. Henry, a community for active seniors and murdered her mom, then Barbara, 68, before turning the gun on herself.
Police revealed that the gun was found at Gail’s feet.
When police arrived, they found Miller still alive in the front of the home, but she died before an ambulance arrived.
Barbara Andrews was found dead in the back of the home.
Rachel Andrews was still alive when EMS arrived. She died after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Aaron explained that Barbara lived with her mother in the senior community.
Aaron said a suicide note was found at Miller’s home on Sneed Road, noting that the woman asked for forgiveness for what she was about to do.
“It’s a tragedy on this Thanksgiving eve,” Aaron said.
Police do not know a motive for the murder-suicide. The preliminary investigation showed that Miller had a health issue in the past. Investigators believe that Miller’s belief that her medical condition was deteriorating may have influenced her.
