Originally written by Richard Rodgers, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, “The Sound of Music” was a smash hit in its time, and throughout the 50 years since, it has become a cinematic staple beloved worldwide. In this true-life story, Julie Andrews lights up the screen as Maria, a spirited young Austrian woman who leaves the convent to become a governess for Captain von Trapp’s (Christopher Plummer) seven unruly children. Her charm and songs soon win the hearts of the children – and their father.

“Fathom Events is thrilled to bring a movie that many of us have only seen in the comfort of our homes to the big screen in partnership with TCM,” said Fathom Events CEO John Rubey. “There is something special about being able to experience The Sound of Music with the sound, picture and energy that comes with seeing it in a theater.”
