5 Milestones Every Couple Should Celebrate

While being in a committed relationship can have its ups and downs, the positives always outweigh the negatives. For couples who have been together for a long time, it can be important to remember the milestones in your relationship and take stock in how far you have come. Celebrating these milestones can be an occasion to pop a little bubbly, if you are of legal age, and reflect on your relationship overall. Included here are a few of the milestones you and your significant other should be celebrating.

The Day You Met

For some couples, the day they met is more significant than their wedding day. A large number of American couples are still meeting their future spouses through their friends, so that best man speech may have plenty of humorous misadventure stories. As a couple that has stayed together for a long period of time, it is fun to reminisce about your “meet cute” with your spouse.

Your First Date

While it can be hard to recall the first time you and your love had a date, it can be a fun date to keep track of. A great way to celebrate this date is to revisit the locations of that night. Go to your restaurant of choice, rewatch an old movie or buy the same flowers. The nostalgia is sure to bring back some pleasant thoughts and rekindle your romance.

One Year In

In a modern world where a long relationship can last a month, making it to a year is a significant occasion. In serious relationships, one year can be a time to plan for the future and clear up any details. At one year, you and your significant other should have decided whether or not the relationship is headed toward the long term or to the end of the road. Making it to the one year is a time to plan, celebrate and look toward the future!

Your Engagement

Everyone knows an engagement means it is time to party! This happy occasion can be celebrated with a huge group of family and friends or just an intimate one-on-one. Take time to revel in the experience of being “fiances” and get ready to make those wedding plans. After you have been together awhile, you can look back upon your engagement as a happy time when the future started together. Celebrate it with a dinner out or a revisit to that special location.

Your Wedding Date

Anniversaries are understandably one of the biggest milestones for every couple. The anniversary of your wedding should be stamped in your brain and planned for every year. People in happy couples look forward to commemorating the years gone by and enjoy planning for it.

After being married for awhile, it can be difficult to retain the surprise and excitement present in a relationship, so make your anniversaries special. A great way to celebrate can be planning an overnight trip out-of-town without telling your significant other where you are going.
