4 Ways to Make Money when You’re Strapped for Cash
Nearly everyone runs into money troubles at some point in their lives. Whether it’s unexpected medical bills, hefty charges to fix a car, or simply crunchtime before your next paycheck, there’s no need to panic when you’re coming up short on cash. Although learning to save money and budget effectively may help you avoid similar situations in the future, you’re still in need of money right now. And there are ways for you to get that money.
Sell Unused Clothes or Goods
If you’re a bit of a shopaholic, you can turn your past bad habit to your advantage right now. Most people, shopaholic or not, have dozens of unused shirts, skirts, and shoes just sitting in their closets. You can take those clothes that you don’t wear, especially if they’re in good condition, to vintage stores and sell them for cash now. The same goes for books and records in good condition. You may need to shop around a bit to find the best offer for your goods, but the time can be well worth it when you have extra cash back in your pocket.
Become a Survey Guinea Pig
When you have surplus time, but not cash, that means you have options. There are a number of ways to make money online, including freelancing and work-from-home jobs. Some of these jobs, however, might be difficult for a full-time worker, especially after a long day at work. If this applies to you, consider become a professional survey-taker. Although the surveys make take some time, they take little effort and can usually be done while multitasking. Sites like Swagbucks, Survey Spot, and Survey Junkie will pay you just for your opinions and viewpoints. Survey-takers usually get paid per survey. Depending on the site, you may get paid in cash or in points that you can redeem through the website for gift cards and other swag. If you specifically need cash, make sure that you don’t sign up for a site that only pays in gift cards.
Drive with Uber or Lyft
If you have a car available, consider using that to your advantage and driving for Uber or Lyft. Drivers can make a considerable amount of money in their spare time, simply carting people from point A to point B. Check with your company on restrictions and special offers, and you may be able to make even more money. If you live in a remote area, you may need to drive in the nearest large city to make the most of your time. Drive during peak pickup times — such as Friday and Saturday nights or during popular events such as concerts — to make even more dough.
Request a Loan
When you just need a one-time boost to your bank account, especially if you’re short on time, requesting a loan may be your best option. Even for relatively small amounts, a loan can help you make it till payday. If you’re looking to get approved now, a bank loan may not do the trick — consider looking online for alternative loan methods instead.
Whatever method you choose, keep in mind that you have options when you’re short on cash — and that everyone goes through similar experiences at some point or another.
