4 Things To Do Before Having Kids

Having kids can be an enriching and exciting experience that transforms your entire life.  You have a someone to look after and love and be loved by.  Along with the incredible life transformation and profound increase in your life’s meaning, unfortunately, comes fatigue, stress, and a lot of patience.

Once you become a parent your financial, emotional, and physical priorities are all revolved around your children.  It can become challenging to do anything for yourself anymore once you become so responsible for the well-being of someone else.  Therefore, it is advised to take advantage of the years before you have kids to get all the other stuff out of the way.

Here are some of the best things you can do for yourself before you make the decision to have kids.

Pay Off Your Debts

Kids can become extremely expensive very quickly.  What first starts out as diapers and blankets soon evolve into karate lessons, yearbooks, and eventually college tuitions.  Therefore, pay off your debts before you have kids if you can.

Without having to worry about extra expenses on top of paying for your kids, you can relax a bit more and enjoy your kids instead of wasting those precious years on stressing.

Travel The World

Travel is something that is completely possible with children, but many parents would agree that it is far more enjoyable and relaxing in the presence of only adults.  Kids can become tired easily, bore easily, and require a lot of attention.

Therefore, if you have dreams of traveling the world, do yourself a favor and do it before you have children when you are young and have few priorities.

Get on a plane and do something wild that you can’t imagine possibly doing with a screaming toddler.  You will thank yourself later.

Live Your Wild Years

Once you have children the luxury of being able to party until the sun rises is a thing of the past.  Kids wake up early and require attention all day.  Therefore it is healthy to enjoy a bit of what are referred to as the “wild years.”

Drink from the bottle, stay up all night, ride a motorcycle, jump out of a plane, sing at the top of your lungs.  Do as much as you can to fulfill any sort of wild dreams you have of living life on the edge because once you are a parent the chances of having the opportunity to do these things become slimmer and slimmer.

Sleep As Much As Possible

Sleep! Precious sleep! Make sure that you sleep as long and as late as you want.  Sleep until noon. Even if you have feelings of guilt that you are wasting time or being lazy.  Remember, someday you will be up at 6 am every day, yes even Sundays, so soak in those lazy mornings while you can.
