Zack Snyder talks ‘Justice League’ ‘Man of Steel’ part 2 and powers
With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice just around the corner, WIRED magazine’s preview includes an exclusive interview with director Zack Snyder, a talk which includes a glimpse into what Snyder has in store for fans when the Justice League film.
Believed to be a Man of Steel part two, a continuation of the story, Snyder explains Zod and the attack on Metropolis.
“To me, the killing of Zod is not as big a deal as the destruction of Metropolis,” said Snyder. “It’s important that these movies have consequences, that there is collateral damage. In Batman v Superman I wanted to show how Bruce Wayne feels when reduced to a sideline sitter. Batman is frightened by his impotence in the face of that.”
Snyder then spoke about the individual and unique powers that each member of the Justice League have and how he plans to introduce them into the DCEU.
“We’ve been strict with our rules. What they can do – Batman, Superman, Flash, Cyborg – we really are hard on ourselves because we want all those things to have a reality, a mythological grounding.”
On Wonder Woman, he says: “Female empowerment is a thing I’ve gone after in all my films. They all have strong female representation. It’s about time Wonder Woman was represented correctly.”
Batman (Ben Affleck) basically goes to war with Superman (Henry Cavill) in Dawn of Justice, introducing Jesse Eisenberg‘s Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman/Diana.
Dawn of Justice promises a cameo of Jason Momoa as Aquaman. Remember Jena Malone and Scoot McNairy’s role are still under wraps (rumored to be Barbara Gordon and Jimmy Olsen) so there’s still plenty to learn.
The film also stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.
