Zack Snyder making Superman ‘edgy’ like Dark Knight

Warner Bros and Zack Snyder (“300”, “Watchmen”) have teamed up to reboot the Superman franchise in the vein of Christopher Nolan’s Batman series. Nolan has served a producer on the film, “Man of Steel”, which promises a darker tone than Bryan Singer’s 2006 “Superman Returns.”

So it’s not surprising that the cast echoes that sentiment. Dylan Sprayberry will play the young Clark Kent and discusses his impression of Snyder’s approach.

Speaking to Clevver TV, Sprayberry mentioned how his first meeting with Snyder provided an idea of what the director was going for with “Man of Steel”:

“When Zack and I were talking about it the first time, he was saying how Superman, they want to give it a more edgy feel like ‘The Dark Knight’ but also make it more realistic and emotional so it’s not just the all-american superhero that saves everyone. He has dilemmas and love and struggles throughout the whole movie, especially when he’s a kid.”

Man of Steel” stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Harry Lennix, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Richard Schiff, and Russell Crowe.  The film opens June 14, 2013.
