AJ Styles will address Daniel Bryan for the first time since losing the WWE Championship, Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch makes her return to television, The Usos will face the Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Bar, and Jeff Hardy celebrates 20 Years in WWE.

Women’s Division Battle Royal

Carmella, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, Zelina Vega, Lana, Asuka, and Naomi with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch at ringside.

Asuka wins the match by eliminating Sonya Deville.

Botches

  • Mandy Rose and Naomi were both lackluster on the mic as the mouthpieces of the heel and babyface sides of the women’s division. Mandy seemed too soft-spoken, especially for someone speaking for the rough and tumble villains. Naomi seemed rattled by the crowd chanting for Asuka. It was interesting to see this unfold in a scene where these women are vying to be given the same level of consideration as Flair and Lynch. Coming off of a fiery exchange between The Man and The Queen, the vapid performances only made it more apparent why they have risen far above the rest of the division.

Bodyslams

  • Becky Lynch is without a doubt the hottest thing going in pro wrestling. Charlotte Flair is displaying the Flair swagger like never before. These two burned the house down at Evolution and are now the most must-see match at TLC. Sorry Miz.
  • AJ Styles delivered one of his best promos of the year. Maybe chasing the Championship is exactly the change he needed to get his mic mojo back. Maybe the opportunity to rest and recharge played a role as well.
  • The Miz and Kofi Kingston was the sleeper match of the night. Being they had faced each other in televised matches twenty times before this one, they obviously know how to work well together.

Coming off of what is the worst Monday Night RAW in some wrestling fans’ lifetime, this Smackdown seemed like not just a different brand, but a different promotion entirely. How could RAW be so bad one night and Smackdown be so good the next? Is it just a matter of relativity, where RAW was so bad that anything better creates a disproportionate level of euphoria? No, that euphoria was legitimate and it was created by Becky Lynch. She is living up to the Straight Fire tagline, and has torched the industry. No one, man or woman, is hotter right now or getting more attention. She is thriving in the exposure and the spotlight. The fans love her, and we can’t get enough. Paired with Charlotte Flair, we have the best feud in all of WWE. But it is not just them. The Usos and The Bar delivered. The Miz and Kofi Kingston delivered. Nakamura vs. Rusev was a classic move that will hopefully lead into a classic feud. Randy Orton’s sadistic side is compelling. The Women’s Division is on fire. Relativity may make it seem better than it was, but it was still the kind of episode that makes fans tune in next week.
