Botches

  • RAW started with Triple H and Shawn Michaels doing a twelve minute promo. How many times has that been the start of RAW over the last twenty five years? Maybe this is the last time, but I doubt it.
  • Bobby Lashley’s turn was telegraphed by putting the microphone in Lio Rush’s hands. The crowd was bound to boo him by the middle of the match, so Lashley needs to make that turn as well. It may be a better place for Lashley to be, but it was foreshadowed with a heavy hand.
  • Nia Jax and Ember Moon facing off makes no sense, and the ending was ridiculous.
  • All of the RAW titles are tied up in two six person tag matches and none are being defended again.

Bodyslams

  • Ronda Rousey taking her first real beatdown in WWE. It has to happen eventually, and it was executed well.

This episode of RAW was mostly the storyline progression that should have taken place at Super Show-Down. The six man and six woman tag matches from the glorified Live Event were repeated on this episode and had the big endings people expect from a pay per view and did not get on Super Show-Down. The Bella twins turned on Ronda Rousey to progress toward Nikki’s match for the championship at Evolution. Dean Ambrose left Rollins and Reigns behind in the ring after losing. These were the big payoffs to stories people buy the PPVs for in the first place. Halfheartedly using big Live Events overseas in place of PPVs isn’t making the television show better, just making their product repetitive. Bobby Roode and Chad Gable together together still doesn’t make sense, nor does Nia Jax against Ember Moon. The SHIELD, Braun Strowman, and Ronda Rousey are the only people who seem to matter to the writing crew.
