WWE RAW Results and Review October 29 2018 : Bowen’s Botches and Bodyslams

WWE Monday Night RAW is Live this week from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Brock Lesnar has been announced to appear tonight, as well as the Brothers of Destruction, Kane and Undertaker, and Degeneration X, Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose won the RAW Tag Team Championships before Ambrose turned against Rollins, and we are sure to find out what is next for those two tonight. This show follows the wildly successful all women Pay Per View, Evolution, where the RAW Women’s Champion Successfully defended her title against Nikki Bella.

Show Opener with Acting General Manager Baron Corbin

Finn Balor vs. Bobby Lashley with Lio Rush

Finn Balor wins by Disqualification after Lio Rush interferes, pushing Balor to the floor from the top rope.

10 Woman Tag Team Match
Lita, Trish Stratus, Natalya, Sasha Banks, and Bayley vs. Mickie James, Alicia Fox, and The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan) with Alexa Bliss

Nia Jax wins by Pinfall after a Leg Drop. Tamina came out and distracted both competitors but Jax took advantage. Tamina and Nia Jax had a stare down in the middle of the ring afterward.

Kalisto scores the Pinfall victory on Scott Dawson after the Salina Del Sol.

Apollo Crews vs. Dolph Ziggler with Drew McIntyre

Dolph Ziggler wins by Pinfall after a Superkick

The Brothers of Destruction (Kane and Undertaker) In Ring

Botches

  • Finn Balor has gone from being the first Universal Champion to being manhandled and embarrassed in the opening match of RAW> Balor is one of the most popular performers on the show, but the even his star will fade if he keeps being used like this.
  • Bobby Roode and Chad Gable as a team still doesn’t make any sense, and the Tag Team Division is listless on RAW. Authors of Pain and The Revival are legitimate superstar tag teams able to put on incredible matches, but the tag team titles have been used as a prop for the main eventers who don’t need them.
  • The Brothers of Destruction promo and the entire segment with them and Degeneration X was a flop. The crowd once again booed the mention of Crown Jewel, and the buildup to this match has been incredibly basic. The established love for these characters is the only thing carrying this feud.

Bodyslams

  • Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have the potential to have the feud of the year if this is done correctly. The segment tonight was a good start, but the Tag Team Championships need to be set free sooner rather than later.
  • Lucha House Party on RAW was fun. If they move up to the main roster, the Tag Team Division will need even more serious consideration.
  • Dolph Ziggler and Apollo Crews had an excellent match, and Crews’ stock is still on the rise, even though he can’t seem to catch a win.

This edition of RAW was filled with flashbacks to last week, glimpses at the Evolution event from the night before, and promotion for the Crown Jewel event this Friday. There wasn’t much room for live action, and what we got was carried by the Women’s Division. The 10 Woman Tag Team Match was a highlight of the night, and Nia Jax vs. Ember Moon does more to progress the picture for the singles chase for the women than anything the men have done lately. Too many of the stories for the men have had distant goals, or none at all, and it’s difficult to name any clear contenders for any titles. The Women’s Division is still carrying RAW.
