Botches

  • Sasha and Bayley were predictable as the first Women’s Tag Team Champions. The match was great, but the ending was telegraphed.
  • Ronda Rousey had another squash match that felt like a way to have her in the ring for the confrontation with Charlotte and Becky.
  • Seeing Braun Strowman in a rematch no one asked for against Baron Corbin to end with another beatdown from Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, and Baron Corbin was just a waste of time. This had better have some spectacular payoff at Fastlane or Wrestlemania.
  • The crowd went mild after the main event. No heat against Daniel Bryan, just silence.

Bodyslams

  • The Cruiserweight Championship match had the crowd buying in and loving it.
  • Women’s Elimination Chamber was fantastic.
  • Kofi Kingston absolutely tore the house down. The crowd bought in and believed he could win the WWE Championship. I haven;t heard a WWE crowd this loud in quite some time.

The women were a huge part of this show and would have been the biggest story of the night had Kofi Kingston and Daniel Bryan not burned the house down. Finn Balor winning his first Intercontinental Championship was great to see and made the crowd happy. Sasha and Bayley were crowned the first Women’s Tag Team Champions in an excellent Elimination Chamber Match. But the story of the night is without a doubt the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match. The crowd was completely behind Kofi Kingston, and they certainly believed it was time for Kofi to achieve his dream of becoming WWE Champion. Bryan and Kingston closed out the Elimination Chamber Match with some of the finest storytelling and in ring work that can be found in the business. Kofi has spent over a decade earning the respect of the WWE fans, and there is likely not a single one who would have been disappointed in seeing him win this match. Kofi’s stock is definitely on the rise, and we are likely to see WWE capitalize on his current popularity with more television time at the very least. Overall this was a great event with entertaining matches and some surprises.
