Writer Victor Hawks talks ‘Pass the Light,’ politics and Christianity

Inspired by the language of Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum, writer Victor Hawks discusses his new film Pass the Light and his inspirations to challenge Christians on their approach to politics, campaigning and just “doing good.”

Hawks talks about his inspiration, beginning at the 2012 election, her niece complaining about all of the negativity, how she felt and how she perceived her generation.

“A lot of the politicians just throw darts at one another…divide parties…divide people,” he explained. “I don’t know if they know what it sounds like, but it sounds like hate to most people.”

Pass the light movie posterPass the Light centers on Steve (Cameron Palatas) who makes amazing leaps of faith to show the world that Christianity is about kindness and a positive message and ultimately challenges the local politician obsessed with intolerance and legality.

Hawks details his concept called the “Simplicity of Kindness” and how the random acts in film came to be and how he feels they are impacting lives each and every day.

He really dives into the political drivers, speech transcript and emotions that led him to create the bigoted character in the film, who is the antagonist to Steve.

Pass the Light also stars Alexandria Deberry, Lawrence Saint-Victor, Jon Gries, Milena Carter.
