‘Woman Woman 2’ rumored to be set in Cold War, Chris Pine will return

Wonder Woman has proved to be the biggest film of the summer so far and the sequel will attempt to follow suit and new reports point to a continuation of the timeline, setting the new film in the Cold War.

Screen Rant reports that production details revealed to them point to ” the story of Wonder Woman 2 will be another historical adventure prior to the modern day DCEU. Set during the 1980s, the film will send Diana against the forces of Soviet Union in the closing days of the Cold War. The production team is expected to remain on board for the sequel, with confirmation that Geoff Johns is developing Wonder Woman 2‘s script with Jenkins…”

“The report also confirms that Chris Pine will be returning, once again acting as Diana’s ally Steve Trevor…” – likely pointing to a flashback of some sorts.

Jenkins told Entertainment Weekly that the next chapter “will take place in the U.S., which I think is right. She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America. It’s time.”

The Gal Gadot led film has broken a ton of “female related” records on the way to earning over $745 million globally to date, finishing fourth at the box office last weekend, and showing signs of still going for weeks to come.

There is no date or official news at this point, but expect something to be announced very soon.

Gadot hasn’t much of a break from the character, saying in June that “Literally, the day (after) I wrapped Wonder Woman, I started to shoot Justice League,” Gadot told USA TODAY. “It feels really good to know your character to a degree where you are very opinionated about what she should do and what she shouldn’t do.”
